White spots and discoloration appear on your stainless steel pan. When spots appear on the bottom of a stainless steel pan, it is usually what is known as rainbow discoloration. These spots do not affect the function of the cookware and can be removed. It is a reaction of the stainless steel with lime from the water or salt and calcium present in the water and detergent. Discoloration can also be caused by starchy ingredients such as pasta, potatoes, and some vegetables.
Solution:
These stains are completely harmless and can be easily removed by scrubbing the pan with a cleaning vinegar and a dish brush. If this does not work, we recommend cleaning the pan with a stainless steel cleaner.
